Limelight

You texted me
out of the blue tonight
asking me for pictures
of us at The Limelight

and I wish I had some
I wish we’d taken some
photos on that pulsing floor,
but we never did.

All I had was a tiny
square of a photo of us,
boobs smashed together
in black fishnet shirts

with leather collars
tight around our necks
and smiles from ear to ear
my darling girl.

I remember only
bits and pieces of
that night we spent together
there at the Limelight

but I remember
dancing with you
until I could barely breathe
a thing but your name.

I miss you, too.
