Now you have me down
on my knees begging for you,
a gun to my head.
15/365 – A Poem a Day For a Year
Now you have me down
on my knees begging for you,
a gun to my head.
15/365 – A Poem a Day For a Year
I remember sharing
stories and secrets
back when secrets
started to mean something,
and the softness of your hair,
the sparkle in your eyes.
You, curled up
in my bedroom
more nights than I can count
because sometimes
it felt more like home
to you than home.
Luna moths
peppering my window,
and if you looked in
you’d see us laughing.
It’s been twenty-four years
of this friendship
and we are still laughing together,
but sometimes, what’s better,
is our silences.
The way you hold me
in your stares and your arms
and certainly your heart.
Your love is strong,
your love is tough,
and I love you for it.
14/365 – A Poem a Day For a Year
For my best friend Beth, on her birthday.
there’s that
perfect place
where the sky
meets the sea
and that’s where
I feel like we met
and will keep meeting
because we are magic, too
13/365 – A Poem a Day For a Year
you were not
the right man for me
you were not safe
you were not my friend
you were toxic for me
you mistreated me
and betrayed my confidence
12/365 – A Poem a Day For a Year
I wrote the perfect
poem but I can’t share it
cause it will hurt you.
I don’t want to hurt
the one I love the most with
words I can’t take back,
so I will bury
the broken parts of me to
keep each other safe.
